Senior Citizens Advisory Board
The Senior Citizens' Advisory Board consists of seven (7) regular members
and one alternate member appointed to serve three (3) years terms. A
majority of the members are required to be at least fifty-five years of age.
The board is advisory only and was established for the purpose of providing
senior citizens a valuable resource in communicating effectively with their
elected representatives. The Senior Citizens' Advisory Board also helps
the Council be more responsive and better advised in matters of particular
concern and impact to the senior citizen community of Longmont.
The board's primary duties include:
- making recommendations for guidelines and policies facilitating the most
beneficial and productive use of the Senior Center;
- reviewing annual budget requests relating to senior citizen programs;
- serving as liaison between the City Council and the community of senior
citizens in matters of public interest as determined by the Board or Council;
- reporting annually to the City Council concerning the operation of the
Senior Center including financial aspects, maintenance and condition of
the facility, and any other matter deemed pertinent.
