City of Longmont, Affordable Housing Programs

Information for Renters

Affordable Rental Developments - Offering below-market rental properties in apartment complexes in Longmont.

Accessibility Program - Removing architectural barriers to owner-occupied properties so that a lower income disabled occupant can have full access to the property.

Housing Choice Vouchers (Section 8) - Provides rent assistance for persons with incomes below 50% of the area median income (AMI) - visit the Longmont Housing Authority at 1228 Main Street, or phone 303-651-8581.

The Longmont Housing Authority (LHA) has adopted a “Lottery System” Process for the Section 8 Housing Choice Voucher (HCV) and the Project Based Voucher (PBV) Programs. The Lottery System creates improved accuracy and fairness in the process of issuing vouchers for both programs. All lottery entry numbers are computer generated and randomly selected which replaces a wait list process of date and time of application (first-come, first-serve).

Fair Housing Information - Know your rights

You may have experienced housing discrimination if a

landlord or property manager have:

• Discouraged you from looking at an apartment.

• Steered you to a different apartment complex.

• Made statements indicating a preference not to rent to you because of your race, marital status, age, disability, or because you have children.

• Told you that there are no vacancies when, in fact, there are.

• Refused to accommodate your disability.

• Imposed different rules for families with children.

• Retaliated against you with an eviction notice for objecting to being treated unfairly.
