SOMOS (We Are), Cultural Resources, Community & Neighborhood Resources
Somos (We are) is a proactive process to addressing concerns and misunderstandings between our Latino community and our Longmont police department. The goal is to develop a greater understanding, trust, mutual respect and to enhance communication between our Latino Community and our Longmont Police Department.
SOMOS is, however open to all individuals with concerns and/or misunderstandings with the police.
SOMOS is a program that provides a process to facilitate a confidential discussion between a community member(s) and police to address issues and concerns.
The Process provides:
- Forums can be bilingual, (English/Spanish). Discussions will be held
in a safe and neutral environment.
- An independent, neutral facilitator will conduct the SOMOS meeting.
- SOMOS will honor and value all participants.
- SOMOS will concentrate on building a better community and future all by facilitating understanding and resolution.
Example of Issues: Concerns about Police Contacts or Latino Youth Issues. These are just two examples of many potential forums.
