2008 Action Plan
 Education Summit...one year later...
In March 2007, over 600 participants from all over the Longmont community came together to understand our current educational challenges and to explore promising practices that could help transform Longmont into a "learning city" where all children and adults can succeed in school and throughout their entire lives.
After the summit, the Education Task Force identified two types of implementation, one that pairs people interested in helping with existing organizations to enhance their services and access, and the second looks at longer-term issues, partnership opportunities and solutions where there are no existing programs So where are we one year later in working toward our vision for Longmont as a learning city?
LifeLongmontLearning.com On February 14th, 2008 a new community "wiki-style" website was launched, www.LifeLongmontLearning.com, to help connect Longmont residents with educational resources that are offered throughout Longmont, the region and beyond.
One of the discoveries we made during the education summit was that many people were not aware of the numerous lifelong educational efforts that are already in place and available to our community. So we decided to create an easy-to-use and accessible way of connecting people in the Longmont community with educational opportunities in their own backyard.

A messaging campaign is being launched to:
- increase recognition, among all segments of the Longmont community, of the importance of lifelong learning.
- promote awareness of the opportunities for pursuing lifelong learning within our community
The Education Task Force (ETF) recently selected Communication Infrastructure Group (CIG) to assist with the community-wide messaging campaign for this Lifelong Learning initiative. The overall goal of this campaign is to inspire and motivate different target audiences "to act" in supporting lifelong education--in ways that they haven't acted before or to do even more of what they are now doing.
CIG has created an on-line survey to give interested community members an opportunity to provide their opinions and insights on issues surrounding this initiative, as well as their thoughts on how together we can show measurable, meaningful results. This on-line survey is being conducted August 12 - August 26, 2008, and takes approximately 10 minutes to complete.
