News & Updates, Left Hand Creek Flood Control Project September, 2012 Update
Ridgeview Drive at Pike Road is scheduled to re-open to traffic on Friday, September 28th, weather permitting. Construction on the Left Hand Creek Flood Control Project will continue along Pike Road and the neighboring area of Southmoor Park until late November.
The Kanemoto Park pedestrian bridge is now open to pedestrians and bicyclists travelling across Left Hand Creek to Missouri Avenue. The pedestrian underpass at Main Street near Quail Road is scheduled to open late October, weather permitting. Construction will be continuing around these areas, so please pay attention to traffic control signage and move “slow in the cone zone.”
The Left Hand Creek Flood Control Project is in the final stages of construction. Significant improvements have already been made to the roadways and bicycle path in the Southmoor Park neighborhood. New grading, utilities, landscaping and installation of boulder walls are shaping the future of the reduced floodplain area. The City plans to submit a revised floodplain map to FEMA at the end of the year and area residents can expect notification of approved floodplain changes in the fall of 2013.
