What can you tell me about the old grind stones located in front of the Carnegie Library?

old grind stones

The stones were part of an early flour mill (built in 1872 or 1873)

Purchased in 1873 from France, the mill stones were in use up until 1934 when a fire destroyed the old flour mill (Longmont Flour Mill or Denio Mill as it was known.)

Shortly after, the stones were given to the city and were later placed in front of the old Carnegie Library where they still remain. More information on the stones is available at the library. If you would like to see this information, please come to the second floor reference desk and we would be glad to assist you.
