Be Ready Longmont Program a Prep for Emergencies

During the initial stages of a large scale incident, essential services may not be available. Our community is a partner and an asset that is often overlooked during disasters. During 2011, the Office of Emergency Management (OEM) will be providing our community with the tools necessary to safely help each other and empower our community to help itself. That program is called Be Ready Longmont. Preparedness is everyone’s job. We encourage you to visit www.ci.longmont.co.us/emergency for additional information and updates.

Track the Colorado Legislature Online

The 2011 Colorado legislative session opened Wednesday, January 12, and is scheduled to adjourn May 11. Prior to the session, the Longmont City Council passed several sets of legislative policies, including water policies recommended by the Longmont Water Board. These policies help guide legislative activities. During the session, City staff track legislation that has a “municipal interest” and bills that may affect Longmont. To see the bills being tracked or for more information regarding general legislative information and the 2011 legislative session visit www.ci.longmont.co.us/city_manager/legislative_info.
