Coffee with Council on Saturday, April 30
Longmont City Council is hosting an informal chat over coffee from 9 to 10 am on Saturday, April 30, at Nicolo’s Pizza, 1631 Pace Street. At Coffee with Council, you can talk with two council members on any topic of your choice. Council members Gabe Santos and Brian Hansen are scheduled to attend. Outdoor Warning System Test on Monday
The City’s Outdoor Emergency Warning System (OEWS) is being tested at 10 am on Monday, May 2. The system is tested at 10 am on the first Monday of every month through August. Other than for testing, the system will be used only to notify the community when immediate action should be taken. If you hear the sirens and it is not the first Monday of the month at 10 am, seek shelter immediately and tune to local media for information.

Artists Sought for Shock Art Project
The Art in Public Places Commission is seeking submissions from artists within the community for the upcoming Shock Art project! Shock Art will enhance five (otherwise green) selected electrical boxes in Longmont with painted creativity from community artists! Artists will be compensated with a $1500 stipend which includes all materials, and will be asked to complete the project during the month of July. Drop Unwanted Medication at LUH on Saturday
Don’t flush old or unused medication down the sink or toilet. The City of Longmont and Longmont United Hospital are offering a free Pharmaceutical Drop-off event from 8 am to 2 pm on Saturday, April 30. Bring your old medicines to the main lobby of Longmont United Hospital at 1950 Mountain View Avenue. Retain the labels that identify the medication but remove any personal information. City Departments Team Up to Teach Electric Safety
May is National Electric Safety Month. Longmont Power & Communications is sponsoring the Mayor’s Book Club this month to educate Longmont’s youngest learners about electric safety. Three- and four-year-old club members will receive a free book about electric safety. You can watch Mayor Baum read the book on Comcast Channel 8 throughout May and at www.longmontchannel.org.
