Most City Offices Closed for Memorial Day
Longmont city government observes Memorial Day on Monday, May 30, as a holiday. The following facilities will be CLOSED: Civic Center, Service Center, Development Services Center, Library, Senior Center, Museum, Memorial Building, Youth Center, Centennial Pool and Tree Limb Diversion Center. Trash and recycling collection services will be one day late this week. City recreation facilities will operate on a holiday schedule on Memorial Day. The Recreation Center is open from 10 am to 4 pm. The Memorial Building and Centennial Pool are closed. Centennial Pool also will be closed Saturday, June 4, and Sunday, June 5, for Triathlon Weekend. Kanemoto and Roosevelt Activity Pools will open for the season at 10 am on Friday, June 3. Sunset Pool remains closed for bathhouse construction. Call 303-651-8404 or visit www.ci.longmont.co.us/rec for information.
Sanitation Rate Changes Under Consideration
The Longmont City Council will consider rate increases for trash and recycling services with a public hearing tentatively scheduled for June 14. The new rates would take effect on January 1, 2012, and will raise the rate by $1.36 per month for a full-size container, $0.66 per month for a reduced volume container, and $0.66 per month for a multifamily customer. You can follow the discussion by attending council meetings (Tuesday nights at 7 pm, 350 Kimbark St.), watching them live on Comcast Channel 8 or at www.thelongmontchannel.com, or by viewing the video recording of council meetings posted online each Wednesday at www.ci.longmont.co.us/city_council/agendas. Sunset Pool Scheduled to Open June 15; Union Reservoir Open
Sunset Pool is scheduled to open on Wednesday, June 15. Bathhouse construction will be ongoing through July with access to both the women's and men's locker rooms only. A temporary entry office will be located at the south end of the parking lot in a modular trailer. The major delays are the result of having to redesign certain elements of the roof after construction was underway. The primary focus at this time is to get the locker rooms open to the public for the summer season while work is completed on the remainder of the facility. To register for Sunset Pool swim lessons throughout the summer, please call Centennial Pool at 303-651-8406. In the meantime, Union Reservoir swim beach will be open for your Holiday weekend. Come on out to the reservoir and enjoy a summer swim along with a summer hot-dog as we open our new concession stand. Union Reservoir will be open daily from 6 am until 9 pm, while the swim beach will be open from 10 am until 6 pm, Friday through Monday.

Input Sought on Union Reservoir Master Plan
The Union Reservoir Recreational Master Plan update needs your input! Master plan work began in 2007 and many things have changed since that process. A proposed plan based on these changes has been drafted for public review. Please join us for a deliberative discussion of the revised plan on Thursday, June 16 from 6 - 8 pm at the Longmont City Council Chambers, 350 Kimbark Street. We will provide background and weigh recreational program elements and locations at the Reservoir. Contact Paula Fitzgerald at 303-651-8448 or email at firstname.lastname@example.org for more information.
