Sanitation Rate Changes Under Consideration

The Longmont City Council will consider rate increases for trash and recycling services with a public hearing tentatively scheduled for June 14. The new rates would take effect on January 1, 2012, and will raise the rate by $1.36 per month for a full-size container, $0.66 per month for a reduced volume container, and $0.66 per month for a multifamily customer. You can follow the discussion by attending council meetings (Tuesday nights at 7 pm, 350 Kimbark St.), watching them live on Comcast Channel 8 or at www.thelongmontchannel.com, or by viewing the video recording of council meetings posted online each Wednesday at www.ci.longmont.co.us/city_council/agendas. Sunset Pool Scheduled to Open June 15; Union Reservoir Open

Sunset Pool is scheduled to open on Wednesday, June 15. Bathhouse construction will be ongoing through July with access to both the women's and men's locker rooms only. A temporary entry office will be located at the south end of the parking lot in a modular trailer. The major delays are the result of having to redesign certain elements of the roof after construction was underway. The primary focus at this time is to get the locker rooms open to the public for the summer season while work is completed on the remainder of the facility. To register for Sunset Pool swim lessons throughout the summer, please call Centennial Pool at 303-651-8406. In the meantime, Union Reservoir swim beach will be open for your Holiday weekend. Come on out to the reservoir and enjoy a summer swim along with a summer hot-dog as we open our new concession stand. Union Reservoir will be open daily from 6 am until 9 pm, while the swim beach will be open from 10 am until 6 pm, Friday through Monday.
