Celebrating Longmont Then and Now
The Longmont Downtown Development Authority and Longmont Power & Communications present a celebration of Longmont’s past and present from 2 to 5 pm on Saturday, October 6, at the 1st Avenue and Main Street parking lot across from the Butterball plant. Enjoy music by the Delta Sonics, food, children’s activities, special deals from local merchants and more, all focused on Longmont’s rich history, including LPC’s 100 years of service to our community. For more information visit www.downtownlongmont.com or call 303-651-8482.
Water Fountains Turned Off This Weekend
Water fountains in Longmont City Parks have been turned off for the weekend due to the cold temperatures. The National Weather Service is saying that it will be a low of 33 degrees starting Friday night and the City is trying to avoid any broken drinking fountains as a result. If the weather improves, the fountains will be turned back on Monday until the planned winter shutdown time.
You Belong on an Advisory Board
The Longmont City Council is recruiting to fill vacancies on 10 different advisory boards, committees and commissions. These volunteer positions begin in January 2013. By serving on one of these advisory boards, residents help shape our city’s future. To learn more or to apply, visit www.ci.longmont.co.us/boards/application or call 303-651-8649. Applications will be accepted by the City Clerk’s Office until 5 pm on Friday, November 2.
