Volunteers Needed for Snow Chaser Program
The Snow Chaser Program pairs volunteers of all ages with elderly or disabled residents who need help keeping their sidewalks clear and safe during the winter months. To volunteer or get more information call Kari at 303-651-8495.

Work on Railroad Crossing to Close Road
The City and Burlington Northern Railroad will be closing Mountain View Avenue between Lashley Street and Collyer Street on Monday, October 22nd for replacement of the railroad crossing on that street. The road is anticipated to be reopened to traffic by Saturday, October 27, weather pending. You Belong on an Advisory Board
The Longmont City Council is recruiting to fill vacancies on 10 different advisory boards, committees and commissions. These volunteer positions begin in January 2013. Lucky Day Collection at Longmont Library
The Longmont Public Library is pleased to announce a new library service: The Lucky Day Collection. The Collection features bestselling titles from the New York Times Book Review, The Denver Post and local reviews and are available for immediate check out. Books by J.K. Rowling, James Patterson, Nora Roberts and Stewart Woods to name just a few authors are now available for immediate check out. If the book is on the shelf, it is yours to checkout. No need to place your name on a reserve list. It is your “lucky day.” Lucky Day books go out for three weeks. There is a limit of one book at a time to a customer. The Longmont Public Library is located at 409 4th Avenue in Longmont. Hours are Monday-Thursday, 10 am to 9 pm; Friday and Saturday, 9 am to 5 pm and Sunday 1 to 5 pm. Night Skydiving Scheduled for October 26
Skydiving operations will take place at Vance Brand Airport on Friday, October 26, from one hour past official sunset (approximately 7 pm) until approximately 11:30 pm. Night jumps are required for skydivers to receive full professional certification as required by the United States Parachute Association and the Federal Aviation Administration. Domestic Violence Film Series Continues
In recognition of Domestic Violence Awareness Month, LEVI (Longmont Ending Violence Initiative) is partnering with Safe Shelter of St. Vrain Valley to bring three powerful films about domestic violence to the community. “Dear Zachary,” which follows the relationship and tragic death of a male victim of domestic violence, will be shown at 7 pm on Tuesday, October 23, at the Longmont Public Library, 409 4th Avenue.
