Volunteer to Make Longmont Clean and Green
Volunteer now for the Longmont Downtown Development Authority’s Clean & Green event from 8:30 am to noon on Saturday, April 27. Volunteers are needed to help clean up Main Street and around buildings, parking lots, alleys, other structures in the downtown area that need extra TLC to help them shine. "Colorado Women: A History" at the Museum
Regional author Gail Beaton will discuss and sign her book Colorado Women: A History at 7 pm on Thursday, March 28, at the Longmont Museum, 400 Quail Road. Recently published by University Press of Colorado, the book covers a broad spectrum of women throughout the state’s history. This free presentation will provide an overview of the book with an emphasis on Colorado women during the Great Depression, in conjunction with the Longmont Museum’s exhibition of photographs by renowned photographer Dorothea Lange. Attend the Youth Job and Career Fair
The annual Youth Job and Career Fair is from 3 to 6 pm on Thursday, March 28, at the Boulder County Fairgrounds in Longmont. Students age 14 to 21 can explore a variety of careers with area professionals, practice interviewing skills, and apply for jobs. Students should bring their Social Security number, dress appropriately, and have lots of questions about careers. Parents are welcome. Brush up Your Hacking Skills and Help the Community
Take a hack at improving local government by participating in the Longmont Hackathon April 12-14 at Skyline High School. Anyone interested in using the City’s open data sets to build apps to enhance City services is welcome. Bring your own ideas or use one of the submissions already made by residents. Visit longmonthackathon.com to see some ideas and to sign up. The most innovative ideas will win great prizes!
