Free Coffee and Conversation with City Council at Ziggi's
Longmont City Council is hosting Coffee with Council from 9 to 10 am on Saturday, March 30, at Ziggi’s, 400 Main Street. At Coffee with Council, you can talk informally with at least two council members on any topic of your choice. Mayor Pro Tem Gabe Santos and Council Member Brian Bagley are scheduled to attend. For information about council meetings and agendas, call the City Clerk’s Office at 303-651-8649.
Cleanup Greenup Starts on April 6
This year’s Clean Up Green Up Campaign runs from April 6 -30 with the big kick-off event from 7:30 to 10:30 am on Saturday, April 6, at the City of Longmont Sunset Campus (formerly Parks & Forestry), 7 S. Sunset Street. There will be coffee, juice and donuts to energize volunteers before they hit the streets -- and parks, paths and greenways -- with the famous 35-gallon orange trash and recycling bags. You can choose an area to clean up, or one can be assigned to you. Can’t make it on Saturday? Call Lore Blattner at 303-651-8955 or email email@example.com to sign up for another day. It’s that easy!
Volunteer for Weed Control Crew
Noxious weeds are one of the most serious threats to our public lands. They degrade the environment, reduce agricultural production, and interfere with outdoor recreation. Weed control volunteers will help control these invaders by digging, pulling, and clipping on public lands throughout the city, including some properties not open to the public. Meet new friends, explore new lands, and make a real difference. Volunteer for a day or all year long. We can use your help! All ages and experience welcome. For more information or to apply, please contact Jim Krick at 303-651-8451 or Jim.Krick@ci.longmont.co.us.
Outdoor Warning Test on Monday
The City’s Outdoor Emergency Warning System (OEWS) is being tested at 10 am on Monday, April 1. The system is tested the first Monday of every month, April through August. Other than for testing, the system will be used only to notify the community when immediate action should be taken. If you hear the sirens and it isn’t the first Monday of the month at 10 am, seek shelter immediately and tune to local media for information.
Underwater Easter Egg Hunt on Saturday
Bring your family to Centennial Pool, 1201 Alpine St, from 1 to 4 pm on Saturday, March 30, for an Underwater Easter Egg Hunt for all ages.
