Free Coffee and Conversation with City Council on Saturday
Longmont City Council is hosting Coffee with Council from 9 to 10 am on Saturday, May 18, at Chick-fil-A, 215 Ken Pratt Blvd. At Coffee with Council, you can talk informally with at least two council members on any topic of your choice. Council Members Bonnie Finley and Brian Bagley are scheduled to attend. For information about council meetings and agendas, call the City Clerk’s Office at 303-651-8649.
Free Shredding Event on Saturday
The Longmont Waste Diversion Center at 140 Martin Street will hold a free shredding event from 9 am to 2 pm on Saturday, May 18. Please bring a copy of your most recent Longmont utility bill to show that you pay the waste management fee. This event is for residential documents only; no business materials will be accepted. New Business Efficiency Grants Available
Longmont Power & Communications (LPC) is partnering with Platte River Power Authority to reduce the cost of energy efficiency projects for businesses and nonprofits. It provides up to $5,000, or a limit of 75% of total costs, for qualifying projects after all rebates are applied. The service can be used with other efficiency rebate programs. Funding is available on a first-come, first-served basis through December 1. For more information, call 303-651-8386 or email firstname.lastname@example.org.
Upcoming Pool Schedules
Centennial Pool, 1201 Alpine St., will be closed for maintenance Wednesday, May 22, through Memorial Day, May 27. It will reopen on Tuesday, May 28, with summer hours in effect. During Centennial Pool’s closure, please visit the Longmont Recreation Center at 310 Quail Rd. Sunset Pool, 1900 Longs Peak Ave, will open for the summer on Friday, May 24, with pre-summer hours through June 2: open and lap swim daily 10 am to 5 pm; lap swim Tuesday through Friday 9 to 10 am. Museum Receives $50,000 Grant
The Longmont Museum has received a grant from the Boettcher Foundation of $50,000 in support of the Museum's capital campaign to add an auditorium, education and event spaces to its 400 Quail Road facility. This grant, combined with other recent gifts, puts the Museum at $3,698,560 in funds raised or pledged, which is 88% of its $4.2 million goal.

Reserve Park Shelters Online
The website www.ci.longmont.co.us/rec is your one-stop shop for reserving a Longmont park shelter for birthday parties, family celebrations and summer picnics. The cost is $35 per day (resident fee) for small shelters and $25 per hour or $200 per day for the large shelter at Sandstone Ranch and the Roosevelt Park Pavilion. Bouncy houses and inflatables are not allowed in City parks. For information on the Willow Farm Barn or events with more than 100 people, call 303-651-8404.
