New Tax Filing and Business Payment Option Available Online

Attention business owners! We understand your time is valuable, so let us help expedite your sales and use tax reporting. The City of Longmont Sales and Use Tax division is pleased to announce a new online sales and use tax filing and payment option. After filing your return online, payment can be made by e-check or credit card through the Statewide Internet Portal Authority (SIPA). Neighborhood Meetings for Flood Update

Residents in areas affected by flooding are invited to neighborhood meetings to learn about preparations for spring runoff. Residents of The Greens will meet on Tuesday, February 18, at Twin Peaks Golf Course meeting room. Residents of Champion Greens will meet on Wednesday, February 19, at the Public Works facility on Airport Road. Residents of the Valley neighborhood will meet on Wednesday, February 26, at Westview Middle School. Residents of the Golden Ponds Neighborhood will meet on Thursday, February 27, at Westview Middle School, and residents of Southmoor Park will meet on Thursday, march 6 at St. Stephen's Episcopal Church, 1303 South Bross Lane. I heart Longmont Ribbon Cutting on Friday

Show your love for Longmont on Valentine’s Day by celebrating the reopening of Golden Ponds Park areas, the St. Vrain Greenway from Golden Ponds to Roger’s Grove, the Lykins Gulch Greenway, and trails in Roger’s Grove. These areas have been repaired and are ready for use. The mayor and Longmont city council members will join the community in a ceremonial ribbon-cutting at 4 pm on Friday, February 14, at Golden Ponds, 2651 3rd Avenue. Heart-warming gifts and refreshments will be available for everyone who attends.

City Offices Closed on Monday; Rec Facilities Open

Longmont city government observes Presidents Day on Monday, February 17, as a holiday. The following facilities will be CLOSED: Civic Center, Service Center, Development Services Center, Museum, Library, Senior Center, Youth Center, and Waste Diversion Center. Trash and recycling collection will be one day late this week. If you have questions about the collection schedule, call 303-651-8416. For more information about facility schedules visit http://www.ci.longmont.co.us. The Longmont Recreation Center, Centennial Pool and St. Vrain Memorial Building will be open on Monday. The Longmont Ice Pavilion also will be open and will have extended open skate from 10 am to 5 pm. For more information call 303-651-8404.

City Seeks Affordable Housing Group Members

The City of Longmont is seeking applicants for the Affordable Housing Technical Review Group. This volunteer group reviews affordable housing proposals and makes recommendations for funding. The group seeks at least two members representing any of the following areas: housing builders/developers, real estate community, low-income residents or agencies representing low-income residents, and special populations (elderly, disabled). Library Conducting Online Survey

The Longmont Public Library invites residents to take a survey that will show how patrons use the library’s computers and Internet connection. This will help the library improve its technology services and properly allocate resources. The survey takes only 10 to 15 minutes and is completely anonymous. The survey will be available through February 28 at http://www.ci.longmont.co.us/library.

Free Artist Talk at the Museum

On Thursday, February 20, from 7 to 8 pm, join artist, art educator and “Ignite” exhibitor Jessica Moon Bernstein for a discussion of her drawing, sculpture and interactive artworks that focus on the theme of sustainability.
