Youth Career and Job Fair at Fairgrounds

Youth ages 14 through 21 are invited to learn about various careers and how to prepare for the job market from 3 to 6 pm on Thursday, March 6, at the Boulder County Fairgrounds. Talk with employers, take part in mock job interviews, have your resume critiqued, and apply for actual jobs at the fair. Business attire is recommended. Apply Now for Citizen Police Academy

Longmont Police Services is accepting applications for the 12-week spring Citizen Police Academy. The academy gives residents a better understanding of the role of law enforcement and our criminal justice system. Classes meet from 6 to 9 pm on Wednesdays from March 19 through June 4 at the Safety & Justice Center, 225 Kimbark Street. Shredding Event on March 7

The Longmont Waste Diversion Center at 140 Martin Street will hold a free shredding event from 9 am to 2 pm on Friday, March 7. Please bring a copy of your most recent Longmont utility bill to show that you pay the waste management fee. This event is for residential documents only; no business materials will be accepted. Sign Up for Youth Spring Break Classes

Sign up now for youth spring break activities through Longmont Recreation and Golf Services. Choose from half-day multisport camps, Wellborn basketball ball handling and shooting clinics, or girls’ fast–pitch softball camp. Horseback riding at Sun Pony Ranch will be offered for youth as young as 5, and older kids will enjoy creating with Earth Wise Art at the Longmont Museum, painting with Dabble’s Young Picasso classes or a Crackpots’ Clay Date! The American Red Cross Babysitter’s Boot Camp offers certification in babysitting, first aid and CPR all in one class. Register Early for Kids' Fishing Program

The 11th annual Chick Clark Kids’ Fishing Program will be held on Saturday, March 29, at Roger’s Grove Park, 220 Hover Road. The program provides a special opportunity during Spring Break for Longmont youth (15 years old and younger) to learn about local natural resources, participate in fun outdoor activities and catch their own fish! The day includes a free kids’ fishing clinic, free hot dogs for all, and free fishing for kids. Basic Handgun Safety and Shooting Course

In this class from 8 am to 6 pm on Sunday, March 30, you’ll learn how to safely store, carry and shoot firearms. The course is a combination of classroom and practical exercise and is appropriate for the beginner to immediate shooter. Attendees must be age 18 or older, and class size is limited to 20.
