City to Pick Up Limbs and Branches
UPDATE: NOVEMBER 2, 2011 - New Site for Tree Limb Disposal
The Tree Limb Disposal area at the Waste Diversion Center at 140 Martin Street has reached capacity due to the volume of branches from the last snow storm. Residents will now need to proceed to a new disposal site located just south of 1st Avenue and Martin Street, 111 Martin Street. Signs will be posted to direct residents.
The hours for the new site are 8:00 am to 6:00 pm through Saturday, November 5. Beginning Sunday, November 6, the hours will be 8:00 am to 5:00 pm due to the end of day light savings time for the season.
Residents will need to bring a copy of their most recent utility bill in order to drop off limbs.
OCTOBER 27, 2011 - The early winter storm on October 26, 2011, damaged and destroyed many trees in Longmont and left a trail of limbs and branches. To help with cleanup efforts, the City of Longmont will be conducting a special tree branch collection in residential areas. The collection program will begin November 14 and will follow the current leaf bag collection schedule.
Each residential area will only receive one collection. Please see the table below for your collection schedule. Tree limbs must be curbside the week prior to your collection week. Branches will not be collected from alleys. Any materials brought to the curbside after the collection date will not be picked up by the City, and the property owner or tenant may be subject to municipal code violations.
Branch Collection Dates:
- If your regular trash collection day is Monday, have your branches and limbs curbside before Monday, November 14
- If your regular trash collection day is Tuesday, have your branches and limbs curbside before Monday, November 21
- If your regular trash collection day is Wednesday, have your branches and limbs curbside before Monday, November 28
- If your regular trash collection day is Thursday, have your branches and limbs curbside before Monday, December 5
Longmont residents may also bring their tree branches to the City tree limb diversion site located at 140 Martin Street. The facility will have extended hours, 8 a.m. - 6:30 p.m., 7 days a week until further notice. Residents must bring their latest utility bill reflecting the Waste Management Fee to access the site. If you have any questions, please contact the City at 303-651-8416.
In addition to the residential areas, City staff are developing plans to address trees and branches in parks, greenways and other public areas. The City currently has eight city crews and several contractors working on clearing trees from rights of ways, parks, greenways and other public areas.
