2011 Community Development Week, April 25 - 30

APRIL 22, 2011 - Please join the City of Longmont in celebrating National Community Development Week April 25 - 30. This week-long celebration recognizes the positive contributions of about $530,000 in Community Development Block Grant funding that Longmont receives annually.

See a list of scheduled events and a list of accomplishments.

The Community Development Block Grant (CDBG) Program for 37 years has provided local governments with the resources required to meet the needs of persons of low- and moderate-income. In Longmont, 27 years of Community Development Block Grant funding has had a significant impact on our local economy not only through the $13.5 million in grant funding and program income received and invested in our community, but also through job creation and job retention, an improved local tax base, the physical redevelopment of our infrastructure and housing stock, the reinvestment in our neighborhoods, the improvement of the lives of our lower income residents, and the development of a strong network of partnerships with the many non-profit agencies that provide services to our residents.

Longmont Mayor Bryan Baum will proclaim April 25-30 as Community Development Awareness Week in Longmont at the City Council meeting scheduled for Tuesday, April 26.
