Four Finalists Selected for Longmont Assistant City Manager Position
Public invited to reception on Monday, November 26
NOVEMBER 23, 2012 - Four finalists from around the country have been selected to interview for the newly created position of assistant city manager for external services. The candidates will be in Longmont on Monday and Tuesday November 26-27 for two days of interviews. The general public is invited to a public reception to meet the candidates on November 26 from 4 to 5 pm in the Longmont Civic Center located at 350 Kimbark St.
The finalists are
- Adam Miles, City Manager in Hewitt, Texas
- Laura Fitzpatrick, Assistant City Manager in Rio Rancho, New Mexico
- Angela Montgomery, former Assistant City Manager in East Point, Georgia
- Shawn Lewis, Director of Community and Economic Development in San Angelo, Texas
Earlier this year Longmont City Manager Harold Dominguez implemented a citywide organizational restructuring to enhance a working culture where employees feel like they belong, that they are part of a larger vision, to build a sense of community, and to create an organization that is nimble and flexible to handle all challenges and opportunities more efficiently and effectively.
To help facilitate the organizational changes the city added two assistant city manager positions - one to manage internal services such as public information, finance, budgeting, fleet and enterprise technology services - and the other to manage external services such as economic development, community services and the airport.
In July Sandi Seader was appointed Assistant City Manager for internal services. One of the four finalists for the external services management position is expected to assume the appointment early in 2013.
