Lewis Named New Longmont Assistant City Manager

He's expected to start job in January

DECEMBER 10, 2012 - Shawn Lewis has been hired as the new Longmont Assistant Manager who will oversee external city services including economic development, community services and the Vance Brand Airport.

After careful review by citizen groups, organizational committees and Longmont City Manager Harold Dominguez, Lewis was selected from a pool of 182 individuals from around the country that applied for the position earlier this year. It is expected that Lewis will begin his job in January.

Lewis is currently the Director of Community and Economic Development in San Angelo, Texas.

“Shawn’s educational background, his experience in municipal government and leadership ability are exactly the right mix of talents for this challenging new position,” Dominguez said. "I look forward to working with Shawn again.”

Dominguez worked with Lewis during his tenure as City Manager in San Angelo prior to being named Longmont City Manager last January.

Lewis is one of two Longmont assistant city managers. In July Sandi Seader was appointed to the Assistant City Manager position in charge of internal shared services such as public information, finance, budgeting, fleet and enterprise technology services.

Longmont, located in Boulder County at an elevation of 4,979 feet, covers 27 square miles and has more than 300 days of sunshine and a spectacular view of the Rocky Mountains. Longmont also is home to several high-tech companies and a vibrant restaurant and art scene. It is conveniently located 35 miles from Denver, 16 miles from Boulder, and 30 miles from scenic Trail Ridge Road through Rocky Mountain National Park.
