Multi-Modal Transportation Plan identifies specific transportation facility and service investments that will be made by the city over the next 20 years The Multi-modal Plan addresses four primary transportation modes: pedestrian, bicycle, transit, and automobile.

FLEX - New Transit Route Connects Longmont, Ft. Collins

Through a regional partnership, a new transit route, FLEX, will connect the following cities via Highway 287: Fort Collins, Loveland, Berthoud and Longmont.

Operations begin: June 7, 2010 - will offer service Monday through Saturday

Service: FLEX offers a variety of options to maximize convenience and accessibility to communities in Northern Colorado. During peak morning and evening times, an express route will serve primary stops between Fort Collins and Longmont. Mid-day, FLEX will provide basic service between Fort Collins and Loveland.  Schedule details including service locations and times can be downloaded on the web site, flexnoco.com, and are also available by contacting Transfort customer service, 970-221-6620.

Fares:  A single ride on FLEX will cost $1.25; RTD’s Eco Pass, Transfort and COLT passes will also be accepted.

Transfers:  Passengers may transfer to and from FLEX on to COLT and Transfort systems.  Passengers will need to pay RTD fare or use an RTD pass to board the RTD system.

FasTracks Project

The FasTracks plan includes rapid transit (commuter- or light-rail) in six corridors throughout the Denver Region. One of the corridors includes US-36 from Denver to Boulder and the Diagonal Highway (SH-119) from Boulder to Longmont. FasTracks includes a commuter-rail connection from Denver through Boulder to Longmont via the existing Burlington Northern/Santa Fe Railroad line.

Alternative Modes of Transportation

Developing current and future bikeway routing throughout the City through the Alternative Modes Map (for existing bicycle routes and the Bikeways Map - contact the Public Works and Natural Resources for a free bike map). The City also works with a citizen group, Bicycle Longmont, to help coordinate planning and maintenance of the bicycle system in the City.

Transportation Demand Management (TDM) strategies help better utilize the roadway system so fewer tax dollars are spent on road building.
