Longmont Recreation Services offers camps for youth of all ages during both the summer months and throughout the school year. Camps listed are samples of the types of camps offered by Longmont Recreation Services. Preschool Sports Clinics (Ages 3 to 5 years)

These clinics will focus on FUN, including basic ball handling, passing, catching, hitting, dribbling, and scoring skills for preschoolers. Held at the Longmont Recreation Center, 310 Quail, come in and enjoy a workout while the little one also burns some energy.

Mad Science: My First Lab

It’s Mad Science 101. Snatch up your coat and meet at the lab- it’s time for science fun! Flasks, beakers and balance beams are some of the equipment your junior scientist will experiment with. We’ll even do a little mixing to shake things up.

Youth Camps

Sandstone Exploration Camp

Enter the magical world of Sandstone Ranch. This beautiful, historical setting provides the backdrop for your child to explore a variety of activities. This camp is sure to be a memory maker for your child. We provide the perfect blend of nature education and fun. Wear sunscreen, bug spray, bring lunch and water bottle. Jeans/Pants recommended.

Little Buckaroos Ranch Camp

Learn about Cowboys, Cowgirls, and life on a ranch. Campers will learn and practice safety around horses and around the ranch. They will get to try out some ranch chores, and have special ranch fun. Activities are all age appropriate for these younger kids.

LEGO Pre-Engineering

Build cities, bridges, and motorized cars/planes and explore the many creative possibilities of engineering with the LEGO system. With access to over 100,000 pieces of LEGO, your child will have the opportunity to build what they have only dreamed of with the support of an experienced Play-Well Engineering instructor to guide them. Engineering FUNdamentals with LEGOs

Take on real-life engineering challenges that explore concepts in physics, architecture, mechanical and structural engineering with over 100,000 pieces of LEGO material. Young Rembrandts

All material provided. Materials used may include pencils, colored pencils, markers, and Sharpies™
Instructor: Young Rembrandt

Investigate decorative objects in the treasured tombs including sarcophagi, hieroglyphics and more. Create drawings full of artifacts and Egyptian imagery using a variety of media. Our final day will consist of a large drawing using pastel chalk.

Bits, Bytes, Bots Camps

Kids learn GameMaker video game program. Imagination and creativity can really come to life as kids learn story development, collaboration and computer programming skills. Discover how to generate sprites, objects, events, actions and how to design a room. Learn how to display health, lives, score and high score tables. Basic computer skills are required to take this class.

Mix creativity, imagination and LEGO® mini-men with digital cameras, stop-motion animation movie software, and video editing for amazing movie creation. Kids work together to promote communication and teamwork in order to create their own movie masterpiece. No experience is necessary and kids get to take home a DVD with their movies and other class members at the end of the camp. This is a great camp to take with a friend!

Create animated movies and multimedia presentations using Scratch and movie making software. Draw and animate characters, learn to use timelines and develop storyboard. Take GameMaker video game skills to the next level! Our highly educated instructors and small classes provide a great environment for kids to learn even more about GameMaker. Kids explore gravity, platforms, bosses, levels, effects, and GML (GameMaker’s built in programming language). Sharpen skills to build a truly professional and engaging video game. Students take home a copies of games created in class.

Basketball Ball Handling & Shooting Camp

Wellborn Educational Services, Inc (High Country Dribblers) is pleased to offer a basketball camp that specifically teaches ball-handling (dribbling) and shooting fundamentals. This camp is a great way to build self-confidence and ability! Noel will truly TEACH (not just show) young people, of all experience levels, the art of ball handling and shooting! Increasing self esteem is possibly the greatest gift this camp gives young people. Camp includes a basketball and awards.

Adventure Bike Camp

Kids will have fun and earn prizes as they improve their bike handling skills, learn the Rules of the Road, and become bicycle drivers. They will learn how to perform ABC pre-checks, importance of wearing a helmet, flat tire repair, safe riding with traffic on residential streets and along the greenway system. Sculling Sampler

Learn to row and have fun! Sculling is all about teamwork on the water. Sculling is offered by the Longmont Sculling Club and is limited to 8 students which assures lots of personal attention. Rowing will be in 4, 2 or 1 person sculling boats. No experience necessary. Fee includes instruction and equipment. $10 2nd child discount.
