City of Longmont Recreation Services sponsors the Mud Hen 5K Run at Lake McIntosh. Mark you calendars for the 2011 date: Saturday, April 23, 2011.

2011: The race was well attended despite a truly Colorado morning snow fall. Although a bit chilly waiting for the race to begin, runners agreed that the temperature for running was quite nice. Congratulations to all who participated!

Racers: You will have the option to download and print an individualized certificate of your results at the Mud Hen free of charge. Check back after the race for the link!

Did you place in your age group and not stay for your prize? Prizes were awarded for first and second place in each age group and gender. Unclaimed prizes are available for pick-up at the St Vrain Memorial Building, 700 Longs Peak Ave, until Monday, May 2, 2011.

Unclaimed race bibs and event shirts are available at the front desk of the St Vrain Memorial Building until Monday, May 2, 2011.

  • On-line at active.com or through the City's on-line registration system. City's on-line registration will end Thursday, April 21,2011, at 8:30am.(top left)
  • Walk-in at St Vrain Memorial Building, 700 Longs Peak Ave; Centennial Pool, 1201 Alpine St; or the Longmont Recreation Center, 310 Quail Rd. Please note that walk-in registration on Thursday, April 21, and Friday, April 22,2011, is available at the St Vrain Memorial Building ONLY. Day of registration is welcome from 9-9:45am at the shelter on the west end of Dawson Park, along Lakeshore Drive, on Sat, April 23.

The 2011 Mud Hen Logo: looking from behind the mile marker What is a Mud Hen? A Mud Hen or Coot is a marsh bird with short wings and long legs that inhabits swamps or marshes. Your Open Space sales tax hard at work for you! The 3.5 miles of trail around Lake McIntosh and other park improvements were made possible through the use of Open Space sales tax dollars that you, the Citizens of Longmont, voted for in November of 2000. Thank you for your Open Space support.

Race Day Registration & Packet Pick-up

9-9:45am at the shelter on the west end of Dawson Park, along Lakeshore Drive, Saturday, April 23, 2011.

Come early at 9am and enjoy the Art In Public Places dedication for the new mile markers around McIntosh Lake!

 

Parking is on the streets and surrounding neighborhoods to Dawson Park and/or Flanders Park. Please be courteous and do not block driveways or boat load/unload zones. Please consider carpooling, biking, and public transportation.
