THE PLACE After-School Program is offered and organized by the City of Longmont Recreation Services in partnership with Longs Peak Middle School and Sunset Middle School. The mission of The PLACE is to provide a safe, supervised environment for youth to achieve success through participation in various quality activities that promote leadership, community involvement, personal growth, and RESPECT.
FAQ - (What you need to know!):
1. How much does The P.L.A.C.E. cost?
The PLACE is FREE to all students attending Longs Peak and Sunset Middle School!!
2. Do I have to come every day?
No! We would love for you to come every day, but we understand that you have other commitments. The PLACE is a drop-in program where you sign in and sign out every day, however there are special trips and rewards for those with high participation points.
3. What happens at The PLACE?
No day at The PLACE is ever the same! Every day after check in time, we play a group game and then students divide into different breakout clubs. We have clubs for sports, cooking, arts & crafts, science and the outdoors, volunteering, and many more!
4. What are participation points?
Every day, you can earn between 1 and 3 participation points. At the end of the month, the 5 students with the most participation points get to go on a special Point Leader Trip! These trips could be anything from snowboarding, X-Arena, or a Haunted Halloween Walk and are always an awesome time!
5. Where/When does The PLACE meet?
-Sunset Middle School - The PLACE meets in the cafeteria from 2:30 – 4:45, M-F
-Longs Peak Middle School - The PLACE meets in the cafeteria from 3:15 – 5:30, M-F
NOTE: Students are not required to stay for the entire time and will sign in and sign out as necessary. The PLACE meets only on school days, and there are a few Friday field trips with limited capacity. These will be denoted on the monthly calendar (see below)
6. How do I sign up?
Come to The PLACE and get a registration form (or download one below). As soon as we have received your signed registration form you can come every day.
