Recreation & Culture
Take
off running down one of Longmont's greenways
until you can feel your heart beating. Go on a evening stroll with the geese
at McIntosh Lake. Or just find a nice, flat rock by the St. Vrain River to
sit on, listen to the water and the birds and smile. With over 300 days of
sunshine each year, Longmont is a great place for outdoor enthusiasts. The City of Longmont maintains over 1500 acres of parks
and open space, and Boulder County maintains
over 80 miles of trails for hiking, biking, horseback riding, and nature photography.
Longmont also sits at the base of the Rocky Mountains, within driving distance
of 29 ski areas.
The City of Longmont takes an active role in providing recreational activities
for specific age groups through Senior Services
and Youth Services.
