Safety Division, Office of Risk Management & Safety,
Department of Finance and Support Services
The Safety staff is committed to making safety a top priority within the
organization. Staff members perform loss prevention and control activities
including:
- risk identification and assessment
- providing the organization with current and reliable loss information
- performing safety-issue related research and consultation
- ensuring compliance with all local, state and federal safety regulations
(including EPA and OSHA)
- providing supervisor training in identifying and correcting hazardous
conditions and loss trends within the organization
- coordinating the City's wellness program
- providing state-of-the art ergonomic evaluations and recommendations for
work stations and equipment
- providing incentives designed to promote a philosophy of safety throughout
the organization
- attending department and division safety meetings
- facilitating accident review committee meetings
- coordinating the Citywide Safety Committee
- investigating accidents and safety concerns of employees and citizens
- assisting with the development of consistent practices that will reinforce
a safety culture specific to the organization's needs
