Most City Facilities Closed on Monday

Longmont city government observes Memorial Day on Monday, May 27, as a holiday. The following facilities are CLOSED: Civic Center, Service Center, Senior Center, Library, Museum, Youth Center, Development Services Center, and Waste Diversion Center. The Longmont Recreation Center will open from 10 am to 4 pm, Sunset Pool will open from 10 am to 5 pm, and the St. Vrain Memorial Building and Centennial Pool will be closed. Centennial Pool, 1201 Alpine St., will be closed for maintenance Wednesday, May 22, through Memorial Day, May 27. It will reopen on Tuesday, May 28, with summer hours in effect. Sunset Pool, 1900 Longs Peak Ave, will open for the summer on Friday, May 24, with pre-summer hours through June 2: open and lap swim daily 10 am to 5 pm; lap swim Tuesday through Friday 9 to 10 am. The website http://www.ci.longmont.co.us/rec is your one-stop shop for reserving a Longmont park shelter for birthday parties, family celebrations and summer picnics. The cost is $35 per day (resident fee) for small shelters and $25 per hour or $200 per day for the large shelter at Sandstone Ranch and the Roosevelt Park Pavilion. New Business Efficiency Grants Available

Longmont Power & Communications (LPC) is partnering with Platte River Power Authority to reduce the cost of energy efficiency projects for businesses and nonprofits. It provides up to $5,000, or a limit of 75% of total costs, for qualifying projects after all rebates are applied. The service can be used with other efficiency rebate programs. Citizens Volunteer Patrol Training Scheduled

Want to make a difference in the safety of the Longmont community? The Citizens Volunteer Patrol (CVP) is preparing to select and train its sixth class of volunteers. CVP members serve as “eyes and ears” for police patrol operations while performing a wide variety of duties. The CVP Training Academy is held on Tuesday evenings beginning in mid-September. Oligrachy Ditch Flows to Increase

After Monday, May 6, the flows in the Oligarchy Ditch will be high and will range between 50 and 70 cubic feet per second so it can fill Union Reservoir. Residents are asked to be aware of conditions in the Oligarchy Ditch and be especially careful with children and pets around the ditch in the coming weeks. In addition, the pedestrian underpasses along the greenway could be impacted. Youth Fishing Derby

Longmont Recreation Services and the Colorado Department of Wildlife invite youth ages 15 and younger to a morning of fishing clinics and fishing fun on Saturday, May 11, at the Longmont Recreation Center pond, 310 Quail Road. Historic Longmont Film at the Museum
