Budget Billing, Utility Billing
Knowing how much to budget each month for your utility bill
could make paying your bills much easier. The City of Longmont’s Budget Billing
plan offers this convenience by averaging your last 12 monthly billing periods,
so that you pay the same amount each month. For convenience, the plan applies
to all utility services—water, electric, sanitation and storm drainage.
All residential customers whose service is not being discontinued
may be eligible. You must have six months of billing history with good credit
at the same residence and your account must be current in order to qualify
for the plan.
Simply download and print out the request form by clicking
on the link below. Fill out the form and mail it to the City of Longmont Utility
Billing Division with your next monthly utility bill. Your
form must be received at least 15 days prior to the beginning of your next
customer billing cycle to be activated for payment of that bill. The Utility
Billing staff will calculate your new monthly payment amount by adding together
your last 12 months' figures, dividing by 12, and then adding five percent
of the average. The five percent is added in an effort to minimize the amount
that you might owe at the end of your 12 month period. Utility Billing will
then send you a letter informing you of your monthly budget billing amount.
Each year your budget billing amount is recalculated and could change if your
average bill changed during that year. In
order to remain on budget billing, your payment must be received by the due
date each month.
