Fiscal Fitness

For several years now, the Longmont City Council and staff have been faced with the challenge of providing quality municipal services to our residents within a difficult (to say the least) economic environment. As is obvious from the news every day, available revenues to sustain City services are not keeping pace with the increasing costs to provide those services. Staff has worked hard to shave operating budgets as much as possible while limiting the impact on services that our residents have come to expect from their local government.
As we approach 2010 and beyond, our economic challenges will be even greater. We are faced with the possibility of a need to reduce or eliminate some of the programs and services that we have previously offered to the community.
We need your help!
The Longmont City Council directed staff to implement a prioritization process for the 2010 Budget. The City Council has identified five
citywide results that will be the basis for developing the prioritized list of General Fund services.
We need your assistance in placing a value on these results.
To assist you in further understanding these results, we have created Results Maps that provide definitions of each of the citywide results. These maps, as well as a more detailed explanation of the process, are available on the City’s website, at any City facility or by contacting Tammy Bality at (303) 651-8622.
This on-line version of the survey is the same as the one you received in your May edition of the LongmontLife newsletter. If you submit your feedback via this on-line version, please do not submit the paper version from LongmontLife.
This information must be completed and returned to the City no later than May 29, 2009.
