Controlled Burn Planned for Tuesday, November 10 at Ute Creek
NOVEMBER 5, 2009 - Ute Creek Golf Course in conjunction with Longmont Parks and Open Space and City of Longmont Fire Department will be conducting a controlled vegetation burn of the Spring Gulch drainage system that flows through Ute Creek Golf Course, located at 2000 Ute Creek Drive, on Tuesday November 10 at 9 a.m. if the weather cooperates. This burning of dead vegetation is necessary for the proper flow of water and to help control noxious weeds on the golf course.
It is anticipated that the burning will be completed in a single day. Although no threats to private property are anticipated, there will be sufficient Fire Department and Parks and Open Space personnel and apparatus on scene to ensure a controlled and successful completion of this project.
The burn is expected to last 4 to 6 hours and will create considerable smoke in the area. The smoke may cause discomfort for those with respiratory ailments. Residents in the area were notified of the planned burn with doorknob fliers a couple of weeks ago.
The map below indicated the areas in red that are part of the prescribed burn. If residents have any questions or concerns, please contact City of Longmont Golf Services at 303-651-8592.
