APRIL 27, 2009 - Although public health organizations are monitoring the surge in Swine Flu cases in Mexico and around the world, the City of Longmont wants to assure the public that it is prepared to handle an influenza outbreak and all other types of emergencies.
The City of Longmont has posted a Web page at http://www.ci.longmont.co.us/news/swineflu.htm that answers some Frequently Asked Questions about Swine Flu and the City's ability to handle a public health emergency.
"The City of Longmont works very closely with County agencies to assure public safety," said Rigo Leal, Longmont's public information officer. "There are plans in place with Boulder Councty Public Health and the County hospitals to effectively manage all types of emergencies including an outbreak of influenza."
