Public Invited to Meeting to Discuss Martin St. Extension Project
April 1 , 2009 - The Public Works and Natural Resources department is presenting a public informational meeting on the new Martin Street extension project at the Longmont Public Library on April 7 in the Community Meeting Rooms A & B from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m.
The project will extend Martin Street in southern Longmont from 1st Avenue to Ken Pratt Boulevard (US 119). The work is scheduled to begin early summer and should be completed by December of 2009. This project will consist of constructing a new three-lane asphalt roadway; one lane north bound, one lane south bound, center turn lane and bike lanes. A three-lane bridge will also be constructed over the St. Vrain River and a box culvert will be built on the Spring Gulch crossing. There will also be widening improvements made to the existing Martin Street from 1st to 3rd Avenue. In the event of any work interference with accesses to individual homes or businesses, residents will be notified in advance and the City will work with the property owners to provide alternative means of ingress and egress. Every effort will be made to minimize any inconvenience caused by this construction.
The presentation on these improvement plans are aimed specificallty to those owners and residents near this construction area and to those that feel that they will be impacted by this construction, but all the public is invited to attend. In order to allow a more in depth discussion of the impact that this project will have on the public and to address any questions or concerns, the City is holding an informational open house to provide you with the opportunity to review and discuss this project. The Public Works staff and their design consultant, Short Elliott Hendrickson Inc., will be available to meet with the residents and property owners during the meeting.
