City Council Hosts Town Meeting on Saturday, May 2

APRIL 24, 2009 - The public is invited to share their ideas on a variety of topics with three members of the Longmont City Council on Saturday, May 2 from 9 to 11 a.m. at the Izaak Walton Clubhouse, 18 S. Sunset. The meeting will be hosted by Mayor Pro Tem Karen Benker, Council Member Brian Hansen and Council Member Sarah Levison.

Three issues facing the Longmont community are scheduled for discussion including:

Twin Peaks Mall update - Longmont City Council has given preliminary approval to an urban renewal plan that is designed to help redevelop the area around Twin Peaks Mall.
Economic Development - Longmont is interested in helping stimulate the local economy with some economic development planning. Read the May-June issue of the Longmont Life newsletter to read about the City's plans.
Main Street - As the city's core, the City Council is interested in investing in Longmont's Main Street.

This Town Meeting is the second meeting of 2009. It is part of a series of quarterly meetings planned for Longmont residents to discuss their ideas directly with members of the Longmont City Council. The Council has created a variety of opportunities for the public to talk to them outside of the formal and - sometimes intimidating - setting of the Tuesday night Council Meetings. The Council is also hosting monthly "Coffee with Council" meetings on the last Saturday of every month.
