Repairs to be Made to Clover Basin Reservoir

Reservoir currently being drained for inspection

MAY 6, 2010 - The Clover Basin Reservoir is currently releasing water in order to drain the reservoir for repairs to the outlet gate.  The reservoir will need to be completely drained in order to inspect the current outlet and to design and complete repairs to the outlet.  It is anticipated the reservoir will be drained for the next several months, depending on the condition of the outlet gate frame and pipeline.  The reservoir will start to fill after that time and should re-fill within a month or two, depending on water availability.

Cover Basin Reservoir is privately owned by the Clover Basin Reservoir Company.  The City of Longmont owns the majority of the outstanding shares in the reservoir company.  Water released from Clover Basin Reservoir discharges down Dry Creek.  Residents along Dry Creek may begin noticing some fish, which will escape from the reservoir into Dry Creek, over the next week or two as the water level in the reservoir lowers.

If any questions arise about this operation, please contact the Clover Basin Reservoir Company at the City of Longmont Water Resources and Environmental Services Division at 303-651-8376.
