January, 2012
- Denver Nuggets Skill Challenge - Longmont Recreation Services presents a FREE competition that allows boys and girls, ages 7 through 14 (as of April 30, 2011) to showcase their talents in dribbling, passing, and shooting a basketball. Co-sponsored by the Colorado Parks and Recreation Association, Denver Nuggets, and the Colorado Beef Council. Top scorers in each age group will advance to sectional competition. - Underwater Easter Egg Hunt – Longmont Recreation Services presents the Underwater Easter Egg Hunt as a fun opportunity for youth to retrieve weighted eggs from the Centennial Pool. April 7, 2012
- Longmont Bike Swap - The Longmont bike swap is the place to sell your old parts, bikes and gently used bike paraphernalia or get great deals from our booths at Izaak Walton Clubhouse, 18 S. Sunset. There will be a donation box to drop off bikes and related items in good condition.
Proceeds benefit Bicycle Longmont and the Longmont Youth Triathlon Club. No admission fee. Sat, April 21, 9am-2pm
Vendor set up 8am. Vendors must have cycling, running, swimming or nutritional theme as space is limited. Indoor Booth space is 4’x 4’with table and chair provided. Business fee: $60, Individual fee: $30, Single bike (outside space) - $10.Interested in being a vendor? - Youth Fishing Derby -
Longmont Recreation Services and the Colorado Department of Wildlife invite youth ages 15 and younger to a morning of fishing clinics and fishing fun at the Longmont Recreation Center Pond. Entry fee $5 includes five ten-minute clinics and fishing pole (limited quantities). Call 303-774-4800 to register or for more information. Check-in begins at 8:30, Event begins at 9am and judging begins at 11am. May 12, 2012

- Longmont Kids Only Triathlon – Longmont Recreation Services offers its Annual Longmont Kids Only Triathlon for youth ages 7 – 17. June 2, 2012
- Longmont Triathlon – Longmont Recreation Services presents the Annual Longmont Triathlon, the longest running triathlon in Colorado and the continental United States. June 3, 2012
- Rockies Skill Challenge - Youth ages 6-13 as of December 31, 2012, will compete in throwing, running and hitting. Boys and girls compete separately. Winners advance to the sectional competition July 11 and then onto the state competition in August. Clark Centennial Park, 1200 Alpine St. (303) 774-4800. Tuesday, June 5, 5-7pm. \
- Hershey Track Meet -Longmont Recreation Services sponsors this free event for boys and girls ages 9-14 as of December 31, 2012. Boys and girls age divisions are separate. Winners advance to the state meet. Skyline High School Track (between Alpine & Pace on Mt View Ave)

- Pet & Doll Parade – Longmont Recreation Services hosts the Annual Pet & Doll Parade around the interior of Roosevelt Park. June 16, 2012
- NEW! Summer Solstice Swim - An Open Water Swim Event at Union Reservoir, 0461 WCR 26, Longmont, for adults and youth! Bonfire and goodies after the event. Adults choose from either a 1.5 or 3 mile course; $25 early bird registration. Kid choose between 1/2 and 1 mile courses; $18 early registration. Wednesday, 6pm, June 20, 2012
- Airport Expo – The City of Longmont presents the Airport Expo in honor of the Kugel family, the founding family of the Vance Brand Municipal Airport.This bi-annual event will next occur 2013.

- Rhythm on the River – Longmont Recreation Services, along with a multitude of local community partners, presents the Annual Rhythm on the River, Longmont’s Signature Event. July 13 & 14, 2012
- Roger’s River Run 5k – Longmont Recreation Services offers the Roger’s River Run 5K, kicking off Rhythm on the River’s Saturday activities. July 14, 2012
- Outdoor Cinema - Presented by Longmont Recreation Services and the Longmont Film Society, enjoy an evening viewing FREE movies at Thompson Park at dusk (8:30pm). Bring your lawn chair, blanket food/beverages. Reminder No alcohol allowed in the park. 4th and Bross Street. (303) 651-8404.

- 2012 Longmont Kinetics Sculpture Race at Union Reservoir - The City of Longmont and Kineticists
proudly sponsor this fun, family-friendly event that provides unique entertainment in the form of human-powered Kinetic Sculptures. Date July 21, 2012. Event will be at Union Reservoir, 0461 WCR 26, Longmont.

- Trick or Treat - The City of Longmont does not designate a specific date for Halloween Trick or Treating. Traditionally Trick or Treating in Longmont occurs in the early evening hours of Halloween, October 31, regardless of the day of the week.
