Important Information for the 37th Annual Longmont Turkey Trot
What is packet pick-up?
Packet pick-up is the time designated for registered runners to pick-up their event t-shirt, bib, and any racing swag that goes with the race. You will stream-line your morning if you pick-up your bag prior to race morning, although morning packet pick-up IS an option. Racing shirts are ordered based on the previous year’s sizes. Individuals who pick-up their packets earlier will have a better size selection than those who pick-up later; and pre-registered runners will have a better size selection than day-of registrants.
When is packet pick-up?
There are two options:
Friday, 11/11/11, 4-6:30pm - St Vrain Memorial Bldg Aspen Room, 700 Longs Peak Ave
Saturday, 11/12/11, 7-8:30am - Altona Middle School gymnasium, 4600 Clover Basin Dr.
Please note: If you are registered as part of a school group, all group member’s packets will be picked up by a single group designee for distribution. Please check with your group for details of when to pick up your packets.
How does chip timing work?
A chip will be provided on race day morning that all racers affix to the laces of their shoes with twist ties that are provided. For racers who run bare-foot or in shoes without laces, an alternate Velcro ankle strap is provided. Chips must be turned in at the end of the race; racers must pay a $5 fee for non-returned chips or be prevented from running in future Longmont racing events.
When do I pick up my chip?
UPDATE 11/9/11: Chip pick up will be available at both packet pick-up times, Friday and Saturday. Friday evening registration and Saturday Day-of Registrations will get their chip at the time of registration. You must know your bib number to pick up your chip. Chips are linked to bib numbers: if you are picking up multiple chips it is VERY important you get the correct chip with its bib.
Where do I pin my bib?
Pin your bib to the FRONT of your shirt/jacket/racing belt so that it is easily visible as you cross the finish line.
Can I use headphones on the course? Bring my dog? Stroller my child?
- Please leave your headphones at home for both your safety and that of your fellow racers.
- We anticipate high attendance and recommend that dogs are left at home. Dogs are allowed on the course. Please note that dogs are not permitted within the school building.
- Please be considerate of other racers when running with a stroller, especially at the crowded start. The adult must be a registered racer. Youngsters in strollers must pay registration fee to receive an event t-shirt and bib; otherwise, there is no additional fee to race with a stroller.
Is there water on the course?
Water stations are available on the course and at the finish line. Additional drinking fountains are available in the school before and after the race. SoBe waters will be available for racers at the post-race meal.
What happens after the race?
Spectators and Racers both are invited to visit the vendors at the vendor village. Racers are invited to partake in a complimentary post-race meal courtesy of Outback Steakhouse (in the commons area) and massage courtesy of the Boulder School of Massage (in the gymnasium). As the cost is included with the registration fee, bibs will be required to take advantage of these post-race offerings.
What happens if I place? Must I be present to collect my prize?
Prizes will be awarded shortly after the conclusion of the races and winners must be present to collect their award. We regret that prizes are not available for early pick-up by individuals before the formal awards ceremony. The prizes for second and third place are edible and as such, unclaimed prizes will be given to a charity at the conclusion of the event. First prize is a gift certificate and will be retained and available for pick-up at Centennial Pool, 1201 Alpine St, for a week after the event. Unclaimed gift certificates will be donated to a local charity.
How do I get my results?
Please visit this page after the event for links to results!
