Longmont 2013 Summer Day Camp, Recreation Services

The mission of the City of Longmont, Recreation Services' Summer Day Camp: to provide a safe and secure environment for kids to explore and achieve success through various recreational activities.

The Longmont Summer Day Camp accepts registrations on an ongoing basis. Fully completed enrollment packet required prior to camper attending camp - it is recommended that campers are registered at least a week prior to attending camp to ensure all information is complete.

2013 Hours of Operation

7 a.m. - 6 p.m.

Monday through Friday,

June 3 - August 9

Ten Week program: June 3-August 9 with flexible attendance options for up to 120 youth

Pre-Camp Camp option: May 28-31, a limited capacity option for up to 30 youth

Campers enroll for the days they plan on attending; campers must be registered and the registration fee paid in order to enroll for days.

The flat rate per day, regardless of number of hours attended, is $35 for residents/ $43.75 for non-residents

Registration for the 2013 Summer Day Camp

begins February 26! Camp is limited to 120 youth/day - we anticipate filling.

 

Two weeks notice is required for any cancellations: cancellations made within two weeks are not eligible for a refund. For cancellations made more than two weeks in advance, a $5 cancellation fee per day is assessed.

Transfers from one day to another are not available. Each day is considered a separate transaction subject to the cancellation policy listed above.

Registration for individual days are accepted online, in person, and over the phone until 4pm the day prior, on a space available basis.

Please note that the completed Enrollment packet is required at registration for all registrations taken May 1 or later to avoid the $15 late processing fee.

Enrollment Materials

Registrations will be accepted beginning February 26 at the St Vrain Memorial Building, 700 Longs Peak Ave.

Every camper must complete a separate registration, however there is a single family registration fee regardless of number of children: $45 per resident family/ $56.25 per non-resident family. The registration fee is non-refundable and is subject to a $15 late fee if the Enrollment Packet, including immunization form, photograph and height and weight, is not turned in prior to the May 1 deadline.

A late fee of $15 will be assessed for incomplete/missing Enrollment paperwork turned in after May 1 if not submitted at the same time as registration.

 

Please note:

A doctor's physical is NOT required.

2013 Fee Schedule

Daily Fee includes on-going daily activities such as local large group field trips on Thursdays, two afternoons of swimming per week (Tuesdays and Fridays), & lots of fun-filled days!

New in 2013: Daily Enrollment

Enroll and pay only for the days you need. Daily enrollments are accepted until spaces fill or until 4pm the day prior. The more days needed, the earlier it is recommended that you register to ensure a space.

Daily Options

(up to 11 hrs per day)

Monday-Friday, 7am-6pm,

$35 resident/day or

$43.75 non-resident/day

Please note: Registering your camper(s) and turning in the required Enrollment paperwork by May 1 is strongly recommended. Campers will NOT be eligible to attend camp if Enrollment paperwork is not received fully completed.


Payment options: paid in full at time of enrollment; 1/2 payment at enrollment and the other half due May 24 (available with in person registration only); or auto pay credit card/checking account/savings account deductions made at the 15th (for enrollment dates 16-30) and the 30th of the month (for enrollment dates 1-15) beginning May 15 paying for the enrollment dates.

If electing to use the auto pay option, a $5 fee is assessed at the time of enrollment. The balance due will be billed approximately two weeks prior to attendance on the 15th and 30th of the month.

For example: if enrolling in eight days in early March between June 3 & June 14, $40 will be collect at time of enrollment (8 days x $5/day). The $240 balance due (8 days x $30/day) will be automatically deducted on May 30.

Camper's Corner

What should my camper bring to camp?

  • Backpack/tote with two healthy snacks and a healthy lunch
  • Wearing sunscreen and closed toe shoes (tennis shoes)
  • Label possessions (sunscreen, towel, swim suit) with child's name & store in backpack
  • Clothing for the day (bring swim suit on Tues/Fri with towel).
  • Wear green field trip shirt every Thursday!

Eligibility for Participation
Longmont Recreation Services' Summer Day Camp is designed for children ages 5*-12 years. *A child must have completed Kindergarten. Children will do a variety of activities including arts & crafts, gym and outdoor sports and games, swimming, field trips, and nature exploration. There will be at least one leader for every 15 children in attendance.

Longmont Recreation Services' Summer Day Camp implements a philosophy that celebrates diversity and maintains a continuum of options to meet the needs of all the individuals in the camp. The Day Camp program does not discriminate on the basis of race, color, national origin, sex, or disability. The day camp program is dedicated to supporting the Americans with Disabilities Act. Additional forms may be required for children with special needs to ensure quality care.

 

2013 Activities and Schedules

Planning is underway for the summer! Each week has a defined theme that guides that week's activities. Tuesday and Fridays are swimming days with campers having the option of going to Sunset Pool (suitable for all ages, with water slides, diving boards, sand, etc.) or Roosevelt Activity Pool (a zero-depth entry pool suited for youth ages 8 and under). Local area field trips are planned for many Thursdays during the course of the summer - field trip shirts are required to be work on all Thursdays. Weeks without field trips may have special guests brought to the camp. Download a sample week of camp here.
